Model Parliament, the flagship event of Law Tryst, is a simulation of the Indian parliamentary proceedings. Law Tryst provides the platform to budding young lawyers to voice their opinion and experience the law-making process. Lawyers as well as parliamentarians should possess the skill, expertise and ability to read, interpret and understand the law effectively. Model Parliament is an excellent platform for aspiring young minds who wish to see India change, to put forth their views and arguments on the government dogma and discuss the challenges faced by our country today, and ideas to bring revolution and change for betterment. The organizing committee ensures that the draft bill of the event reflects not only the theme but also the current affairs. Keeping the same in mind, last year, the flagship event witnessed the bill dealing with the issue of bad loans in the Indian Economy. The much awaited event by all law enthusiasts has witnessed the guests not only from the field of politics but also from media and finance.
Eminent personalities have evaluated the participants and graced the event with their presence. These luminaries shared their views and opinions with the participants, and also encouraged, motivated and wished them success. During the event, participants are divided into two groups – Government & Opposition. The Speaker of the house, not among the participants, shall be neutral. The event shall have four components:
- Question Hour: During the question hour, ministers shall be questioned on topics which concern the debate.
- Statements and Motions: Members can raise an adjournment motion, privilege motion which can be admitted or disallowed at the discretion of the speaker.
- Discussion Hour: Issues of public importance shall be discussed, for coming up with a holistic solution.
- Legislative Agenda: Bill shall be passed after the voting and discussion.
